1859

Abel Crabos starts collecting feathers from markets and farms in the South-West of France

1925

His son René Crabos joins him in the family business « Abel Crabos & Fils » based in Saint-Sever. As a rugby champion and captain of the French national team, René brings commitment, trust and solidarity values to the company

1940

René’s wife, Marie Crabos, develops the first “solidarity” down vests for a purely humanitarian purpose : to protect from the cold French prisoners hailing from Saint-Sever. The vests are shipped to Germany throughout the Red Cross

1960

André Crabos, René’s son, creates the first bedding workshops

1967

Jean-Pierre Crabos, André’s brother, joins the company

1968

Pyrenex is trademarked and the brand is created in July.
The name pays tribute to the nearby mountains, favourite expression ground for its products.

The first sleeping bags are also created

1970

Company’s industrialisation and development of the first technical down vests

1980

The Authentic Jacket is born, an iconic product carrying Pyrenex DNA and know-how.

2004

Édouard Crabos, Jean-Pierre’s son, takes the lead of the company and postitions the Pyrenex brand at the heart of the company’s strategy. Pyrenex consolidates its leading position on the bedding market while its clothing line makes a comeback with the down vest revival.

2008

Collaborations with renowned fashion designers, Alexis Mabille and Alexandre Vauthier.

First Parisian flagship store
